Credit repair in Canada: what works, what's legal, and what it costs
Are credit repair companies legit in Canada? What can legally be removed from your credit report, red flags to avoid, and clear fees: $99 consultation, retainers from $499.
What credit repair can and can't do
Nobody can legally remove accurate, current information from your Equifax or TransUnion report. What can be removed or corrected is information that is wrong, incomplete, not yours, or older than the reporting period.
Real credit repair is disputing those errors in writing, with proof, and escalating when a bureau or lender refuses.
Are credit repair companies legit?
Some are. Red flags: promises to remove accurate items, guaranteed score increases, large fees before any work, or advice to create a 'new' credit identity. Several provinces restrict upfront fees for credit repair services.
Doing it yourself
You can dispute for free with both bureaus. Our free guides and dispute letter template show how. Hiring help makes sense when the bureau 'verifies' an error, a lender refuses to fix it, or you need escalation to an ombudsman or regulator.
Our fees
We charge a $99 consultation, then optional retainers of 3 months ($499), 6 months ($799) or 1 year ($1,299), with a written quote before you commit. See our Fees page for packages.
