Alex Campbell, Barrister & Solicitor
Campbell Credit Law Professional Corporation is a regulated Ontario law practice devoted to Canadian credit reporting, collection and creditor accuracy disputes. We act for consumers whose credit files contain obsolete, duplicated or factually incorrect information, asserting their rights under provincial consumer reporting legislation, federal privacy law and the common law.
Professional Standing
Alex Campbell is a Barrister and Solicitor called to the bar of Ontario and licensed by the Law Society of Ontario ("LSO"), the regulator that governs the professional and ethical conduct of every lawyer and paralegal in the province. Practice is conducted in accordance with the LSO's Rules of Professional Conduct, including obligations of confidentiality, competence, candour and the avoidance of conflicts of interest.
Areas of Focus
The practice is limited to consumer credit reporting accuracy: disputes with Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada, conduct of collection agencies, and reporting obligations of original creditors such as banks, telecommunications providers and lenders. This focus allows for depth of statutory and procedural knowledge rather than a generalist practice.
Why a Law Firm, and Not a Credit Repair Company
Canada does not regulate "credit repair" as a licensed profession. Many companies using that label are not accountable to any regulator, are not bound by rules of confidentiality or competence, and cannot make legally enforceable demands on behalf of a consumer. Campbell Credit Law is different in several material respects:
- Every dispute file is opened, reviewed and where appropriate signed by a licensed lawyer, not an unregulated case worker.
- Correspondence is issued as formal legal demand, citing the applicable consumer reporting statute or federal privacy legislation.
- The firm carries the professional and ethical obligations of the Law Society of Ontario, including mandatory professional liability insurance.
- Client communications are protected, where applicable, by solicitor-client privilege once a retainer is in place.
- We do not promise credit score outcomes. We pursue accurate reporting under the law, which may or may not change a numerical score.
- Escalation, where a furnisher will not correct the record, can include formal complaints to regulators such as the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Firm Philosophy
We treat every credit report as a legal document capable of statutory scrutiny, not a score to be gamed. Each matter begins with a documented discrepancy audit against the client's disclosed history, proceeds through lawyer-reviewed correspondence with a tracked statutory deadline, and concludes with either a verified correction or a considered decision on further escalation. Clients receive plain-language explanations of the applicable law and realistic expectations about likely timelines and outcomes.
No representation is made, and none should be inferred, that any particular result is guaranteed. Outcomes depend on the facts of each file, the response of the credit reporting agency, collection agency or creditor involved, and the applicable law in the client's province or territory of residence.
