What is an R9 rating? Credit report terms explained

an R9 rating explained in plain language for Canadians: what it means on your Equifax or TransUnion report and what you can do.

What an R9 rating means

R9 is the worst rating on a Canadian revolving account (like a credit card). It means the account is in collections, written off or the debtor can't be located. 'I9' and 'O9' are the same rating for instalment and open accounts.

If an R9 is reported wrongly, or past its removal date, you can dispute it with the bureau.
